SMART Wins 2004 Calgary Community Achievement Award
The City of Calgary honors local company for its 17-year contribution to building a better Calgary
Calgary, AB – June 2, 2004 – SMART Technologies Inc. announces it has been awarded the 2004 Calgary Community Achievement Award in the Commerce category. Sponsored by the City of Calgary, the award is presented to a Calgarian or Calgary business for improving business opportunities, making significant contributions in the community or in their industry, or bringing recognition to Calgary. In a ceremony on May 26, 2004, at City Hall, Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier presented David Martin of SMART with the award. This is SMART’s first Calgary Community Achievement Award.
SMART has contributed to Calgary’s reputation as an innovator in technology and has created over 175 jobs for Calgarians in the past five years. SMART is also the founding and funding partner of the SMARTer Kids™ Foundation, a private not-for-profit organization that brings technology products into the classroom to support, sustain and improve learning through collaborative programs, research programs, grants and other initiatives. SMARTer Kids Grant recipients in Calgary include the Calgary Board of Education, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Master’s Academy & College and Colonel Macleod Elementary/Junior High School.
